Mendability names Rich Bohne as CEO and moves headquarters to Utah

Mendability® Appoints Senior Executive From Dell as CEO and Moves Headquarters to Utah to Take Advantage of Utah’s Business Friendly Environment

AMERICAN FORK, UT, Jun 18, 2014 (Marketwired via COMTEX) — Today, Mendability®, a new, home-based, clinically proven autism therapy announced that Rich Bohne has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer, and that it chose to locate its headquarters in Utah.

Mr. Bohne has 25 years of experience as a senior executive in the software industry. Most recently he was the Vice President of Sales for the Americas at Dell Software Group, and prior to that he held this same position at Quest Software, which was acquired by Dell in 2012. While at Quest Software, he was a member of the executive team that grew the company from a startup to over $850M in revenue.

Sensory Enrichment Therapy is a carefully constructed and scientifically driven protocol of sensory exercises, which enable the brain to ameliorate the symptoms of autism. Sensory Enrichment activities can include placing hands in bowls of water with different temperatures, walking on surfaces with different textures, and other simple activities that are done using household items. There are no medications involved, and it is fully complementary with standard autism care. Mendability uses Sensory Enrichment Therapy to take autism therapy to the next level by providing personalized therapy that is customized for the unique challenges facing each child.

“As a father of a child with autism, the opportunity to be a part of a team that brings a new and effective therapy to children with neurological challenges is incredible,” said Bohne. “Mendability’s affordable, web based approach to Sensory Enrichment Therapy for autism enables even low income families across the globe to take advantage of this revolutionary new program, and I’m excited to lead this effort.”

“We are very excited that one of the top executives in the software industry has decided to join us as CEO. The experience in sales and marketing Rich brings to the table will enable us to increase the reach of our therapy so more families living with autism can access and enjoy the therapy,” said Eyal Aronoff, the Co-Founder of Mendability. “I have known and worked with Rich for many years. We were at Quest Software together during the early days, and we were both a part of the internet revolution. We both have daughters similar in age that were affected by autism, so we understand the impact that effective treatments can have on not only the child, but the entire family.”

The company also decided to move its operations to Utah due to the pro-business environment that Governor Gary Herbert promotes, and the growing need for affordable therapy for autism in the state. Utah has one of the highest rates of autism in the nation.

Mendability’s mission is to make this validated therapy easily accessible and affordable for families challenged with autism.

  1. Have you ever started mendability protocol on a +/- 18 years old boy before? I was wondering how efficient the program is on older children/young adults.

    • Hi Claude,

We have not seen age to be a big success factor with Mendability. We believe it has to do with the fact that Mendability does not rely on the brain being in a responsive or “plastic” state, but instead activates brain plasticity “on-demand”.

You should watch Ruth’s video that we posted on our gallery a few months ago. She started the program when she was around 18 years old.
