How does the human brain process math and how do different brains see it differently?
Numbers are an abstract concept. If we don’t have a good mental image we can’t compute this abstract concept because we don’t see it in our head. In other words, we can’t memorize what we don’t understand.
This is especially true of teaching math to autistic children, who struggle with mental image.
